To be honest this project so far has been largely driven by myself while encouraged by family and friends, but for this to work I need to have others also take up the mantle and invest their time and energy too. Today I went to my two oldest children and asked them “What does being a part of the Oroville Community Power Ranger mean to you?” this is their answers and I was impressed both by their written responses and their commitment to this project. Below is their typed responses in their entirety.
Jayann’s Response (Age 11): What does being part of the Oroville Community Power Rangers mean to me? The Oroville Community Power Rangers to me is not just a program to donate money so we can make our costumes. It means an awesome group of kids and adults that are willing to make our community a better place to live. It means inspiring people that everyone could make a difference if they just do their best and use their heart to help those in need that needs it. My family and I are willing to take our time to help those in need. Also before we even started the OCPR we did our best to help the homeless, and every year at Christmas me and my siblings of four donate a toy or two we got from family members from Christmas to kids who’s parents don’t have enough money to even buy them a toy or two. I believe the OCPR could help us do more community service, and by that the more people can help have a better community and a better place to live.
Ali’s Response (Age 9): What a OCPR (Oroville Community Power Ranger) means to me is being responsible of others, being kind, and be respectful to others, and what OCPR means to me is Help others who need help. I know others are trying to reach their goal out in the world, and if you keep trying you just might reach your goal. Our family and I Jay Alijandro Sanches Empasis Lerner will try to make the town and the world better. That’s what OCPR means very much to me.
So let's us know what you think, the kids our very interested to know especially as this is their first time that the whole wide world of the internet has read their writing.
